Network & Ops

Planned outage management

Every planned work order resolved to the customers it will hit — with locations, contact numbers and a ready-to-send notification message. Maintenance stops being a surprise to the people it affects.

What it does

Planned works are joined with subscriber and inventory data to produce, for every outage window, the exact list of affected customers — line IDs, locations, contact numbers — plus a generated notification message for proactive communication. Status is tracked from planning through execution to resolution.

Why it matters

The cheapest support call is the one that never happens. A customer who got an SMS — “planned fibre work in your area on the 10th, 07:30–15:30” — doesn’t call, doesn’t churn over a “mystery outage”, and doesn’t rate the network down. On the operations side, the same lists tell the NOC and call centre exactly which incoming complaints during the window are expected and which are real incidents hiding behind the planned one.

How it works

BitSwan pipelines join the planned-work feed with SBR/subscriber and inventory connectors, resolve impact down to individual lines, and generate per-outage notification texts. The application provides the working list, the per-outage detail with exportable contact lists, and resolution tracking; the same data is available over APIs for campaign tools.

Why it replicates

Every operator plans works and owns a subscriber registry; this use case is purely a join the organisation usually does by hand, if at all. With the connectors in place it is one of the fastest use cases to land.

Planned outages. Upcoming and past works with window, affected locations and customer counts, tracked to resolution.

One outage, fully resolved. An 8-hour fibre work: 5 localities, 78 affected customers with locations and phone numbers, and the generated notification text ready to send.

Screenshots come from the production system and will be anonymised before public launch.
